Axonova is the first company in the Sub-Saharan
African region to have implemented a High
Content Screening platform.
The CellInsight CX5 High Content Screening Platform
involves cellomics approaches, providing relevant
information on the overall cellular behaviour.
The platform is designed to measure at least 36 phenotypic
parameters for immediate performance or adaptation and is able
to read and analyse a 96-well plate within minutes.
Molecular biology
The molecular laboratory is equipped with the Biorad
CFX96 quantitative Real-Time PCR (IVD grade)
enabling sensitive and reliable detection for singleplex
or multiplex reactions in biological samples.
A NanoDrop is also available for quantification of
nucleic acids and proteins.

Biochemistry
The biochemistry laboratory is fully equipped, with
the simple most basic to the most sophisticated equipment,
for performing any biochemical analysis in a large variety
of samples ranging from biological fluids to tissue
culture samples.

Mammalian
tissue culture
The tissue culture laboratory is fully equipped with a
class II biological safety cabinet, Carbon dioxide
incubators and other cell culture equipment for faultless
handling of tissue cultures in aseptic conditions.
The inverted microscope equipped with a camera system allows
monitoring of living organisms and tissue culture samples.
Axonova routinely uses a panoply of human and animal cell lines
in the context of large-scale screenings, taking advantage of their
fast and uniform growth. Our panel is continuously complemented
with commercial cell lines to meet specific clients’ needs.
It currently includes neuron-like cells (SH-SY5Y and PC12 cells),
stem cell derived neurons (NPCs), TrkB-transfected cells as well as
CNS disease models.

The microbiology laboratory is fully equipped with a class II
biological safety cabinet, incubators and related equipment for
comprehensive microbiology testing.
